This album is great. When I say Q goes harder I mean his delivery specifically. But they're two different kinda artists but you can tell they're (all the TDE dudes) musically related.Nah, this is way better than blank face to me.
I mean I love Soul but I did NOT think this would still be in rotation.
I been trying to find projects to listen to besides this, I tried with Gibbs but nah...this album is special IMO. So much shyt to break down, so cohesive. I had the typical 5 or 6 (Huey Knew, Invocation, Braile, War, Beat the case, Womanogamous) joints but once I have those and start venturing out into the album away from those and start finding shyt that I love it blossoms into something more than a quick pit stop.
Kendrick will always get the critics but I honestly don't see him putting out a better album than this.
Like you said, K Dot is always gonna get the critics, and he's elevated to a higher level than his peers. But what Q dropping Blank Face and Soul dropping this did for me was show me that Kendrick is not that far ahead of the nikkas on his label.
I don't listen to To Pimp A Butterfly and hear it as being far superior than Q and Soul's last albums. It's just that Kendrick is the bar for them cuz he raised it up the highest first.
