I'm looking at it through an opportunity costs/tradeoffs perspective, with the probability & impact of success on the x-axis and the costs-- relative time, money, emotional energy--on the y-axis and I'm not convinced that it is worth it for the left to focus on the electoral college. It is a high impact/high costs bet when it would make more sense to focus on high impact/low-moderate costs bets, especially when you consider that resources are finite.
What would you categorize as a high impact/low-moderate cost bet?

It's not happening. And the anti gun, anti law enforcement, and military, and anti war left won't ever force the issue... :mjlol:
Basically

The Dems need to be honest with their voters and just say "If we don't win, whatever you want, you won't get because the GOP has ZERO interest in giving you those things, so it's your call"

I don’t see what’s so outrageous or impossible

You already have 196 electoral college votes that goes to the winner of the popular vote.

This is is one of those manipulative measures that isn’t illegal or unconstitutional. It doesn’t abolish the EC but it makes it less effective.

And considering what we are seeing right now with Trump and the GOP and what we saw in 2000 with how Bush stole it, this should be a legit priority for 2022 ballot measures.

It would cement that the winner is the winner. No going to state legislators, no trying to go 12th amendment.

pretty sure virginia is gonna pass this in 2021 (already passed the lower house) because they have a democratic senate and governor. that will get us to 209.

if you put this as a ballot measure for 2022 in pennsylvania, michigan, wisconsin, minnesota, and either maine or nevada it would get us over 270. the EC is extremely unpopular so theres a good chance voters would approve it in those states. definitely worth a shot.
61% of Americans Support Abolishing Electoral College

Edit: Colorado is a swing state that disproportionately "benefits" from the EC and they approved the compact by referendum

What I’d like to know is where or in what situation is the Electoral College even useful?
only reason it exists in the first place was to preserve slavery.

dudes is tripping..

without the ec.. a whole lotta states become completely irrelevant. they ain't giving their power up
A whole lotta states are currently completely irrelevant because of the Electoral College. :dwillhuh:

The only states that mattered in the last election were Florida, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin and North Carolina with Georgia and Arizona becoming surprise states.

Alabama, Mississippi, Tennessee, South Carolina and Arkansas do not matter with regards to the election.

North Jersey but I miss Cali :sadcam:
The interstate pact isn't getting rid of the electoral college :dwillhuh:

Its manipulating it.

Why are you so scared?

People often say they want change and mock the system, but criticize and make fun of solutions to bring about it.

The title of this thread should be “Abolishing the Electoral College is easy to do”

It ain’t closer by a long shot :mjlol:

Even if the Democrats had all the levers of government they wouldn’t do this

Really is disgusting when you think about it :hhh:
