? About college athletes

Say u come from a wealthy family. And your family pay your scholarship are u a part of the NCAA still? Can u get a job? Can u seek endorsements? Do u still have to sign a contract to play sports? Are to uphold the same rules as scholarship athletes?

I'm asking these drunken ?'s because I just watch that Netflix doc on college athletics.
