An abstinence-only high school in a tiny Texas town is battling a colossal chlamydia epidemic.

District officials are rethinking their approach to sex education after 20 of Crane High School’s 300 students tested positive for the sexually transmitted disease.

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention called the outbreak a health issue at “epidemic proportions,” KFOR reported.

Crane Independent School District officials met Monday to discuss possible updates to the high school’s conservative sex education program.

We do have an abstinence curriculum, and that evidently ain’t working,” superintendent Jim Rumage told the TV station. “We need to do all we can, although it’s the parents’ responsibility to educate their kids on sexual education.”

However, Rumage defended the current teachings to the San Antonio Express-News.

If kids are not having any sexual activity, they can’t get this disease,” he said. “That’s not a bad program.”

Any changes must be approved by the school board at a May 19 meeting.

The 20-teen outbreak, significant in the west Texas town of 3,000 people, prompted the district to send letters home to parents last week.

Chlamydia is curable, but if left untreated can cause permanent damage to women's reproductive systems.

The school district did not immediately return the Daily News' request for comment Wednesday.

Will these religious idiots ever realize that you cannot stop science. Teens are going to have raging hormones and want to fukk. Put the stupid book down and teach them properly. And if they insist on living their life according to the book, an unmarried Mary would have been in her teens when she gave birth Jesus. :sas2:

lets address this. no one is trying to stop science. they are trying not to contribute or semi cosign the Sinful behavior. They know what is out there, they know what some of them have done when they were teens. but they are saying we aint going to teach you how to rob a bank successfully. premarital sex is sin. period. robbing a bank is a sin..period. Should i tell a bank robber" make sure you wear a vest and only do it at night and also use some type of tool to disable the cameras so you wont get caught, get shot,or go to jail?" i mean thats pretty much what handing out condoms and talking about safe sex is. And yes i've been on both sides of that equation. saying dont do it and hey bruh , wear a hat. but lets keep it 150. if you're pushing the good book. these folks are right in their approach. just cause they have a situation on their hands doesnt make them less correct. the students are reaping what they sowed. Just like any of us could've have caught something out there or had a baby at 14. those are the consequences of your actions. This is what happens when you dont listen.

One of thee worst analogies I've ever read on here.

Breh, I was fukking at 14 and never had kids cause I learned to USE A CONDOM. Stop cosigning the naivety of the administrators and parents in this community. They allowed their faith to blind them and not give these kids the adequate life lessons they need.
