I feel that it is.....but to be fair I also thought that AC3 was a good game. AC4 is like AC3 on steroids, yet they have somehow streamlined it. Also, it should be noted that Ubisoft has taken elements from Far Cry 3 and put them AC4. Specifically the hunting. And the plantation missions are very similar to when you would take over outposts in FC3. I think this adds to the game. Far Cry 3 borrowed from AC so its only fair that AC does the same in turn. I love destroying a fortress with my mortars and then pulling up, hopping off my boat, scaling a wall and then running up to the commanders tower and sticking a knife in his neck. All with no clunky loading screens to isolate the varying action sequences. So I say give it a shot. Hell at least go rent it from Redbox.Really?I've avoided it b/c I thought it was similar to the
that was AC3. Is it worth playing?
You get to kill slave masters on sugar plantations
the game was crack. Best ac game to date

Real shyt there is so much to do in this game the only bad thing is its overwhelming. Naval warfare alone makes this a must cop
Then mix it up. There is an entire map to explore, plenty of ships to plunder and then the story missions as well as the Abstergo stuff. Yes, each ship battle is similar but there are variances depending on how many ships you fight as well as how strong they are. Take on a Frigate and a Pirate hunter at the same time and then ask whats so special about it. There is beef to be had with the sea battles, no doubt.....like how you can attach to a damaged ship and safely plunder it while other ships were in the process of attacking you.......but you are trying to dismiss it completely simply because "All you do is shoot from the side or the front"
To be honest, I don't even remember much of the naval battles in AC3. But I can tell you they are improved. For one, in AC3, after the ship you were fighting was beaten, I believe it just sank and you got experience or gold or whatever. In AC4, when the ship you are fighting is crippled, you then board the ship and melee battle ensues and you have to defeat enough of the opposing crew to successfully take over the ship. You can then choose to add some of those crew members to you're crew and make your crew larger as well as lower your wanted level, OR you can sack the ship and repair your ship in the process. So there are some similarities to how things were done in AC3 but I feel like they have improved on it greatly and the ships feel more maneuverarble and the battles are a lot more fun. Plus tricking out the ship is pretty fun as well. I didn't spend enough time in the boat in AC3 just exploring, so I can't remember if there were just random enemy ships that you'd run into, but there are always various ships at sea in AC4. Ships that have various goods that you can sell for money or use to improve your ship.help me out here, i am interested, i would love to kill some slave masters, BUT, the main thing putting me off is that everyone keep talking about the naval battles. I didn't mind AC3 aside from the extra long tutorial/intro and the modern day shyt, but i absolutely hated the fukk out of the naval shyt on that game. they really, really put me off. are the naval battles in AC4 anything like the ones in AC3? if not how are they different?
cool thanks for the response. in AC3 for the most part it was specific ship missions, not random encounters. the ships definitely were pretty stiff to steer. turning was a pain and so was aiming and speed. it sounds like they have developed it quite alot. i might have to give it a try.To be honest, I don't even remember much of the naval battles in AC3. AC 2 held the title as the greatest in the series, but if this is true then![]()
