Santa Monica, CA, March 28, 2012—Universal Music Publishing Group (UMPG) today announced the signing of writer and producer, Mike Elizondo, to an exclusive, worldwide publishing agreement.

Elizondo has established himself as a formidable force in the hip-hop industry, having co-wrote and co-produced the No. 1 hit single “In Da Club” for 50 Cent, as well as co-writing three songs for the multiple platinum album Get Rich or Die Tryin’ and two songs for Massacre. He also penned Eminem’s breakout single, “The Real Slim Shady” as well as four songs on the Grammy Award-winning and 9x platinum The Marshall Mathers LP. He continues to write hits with Eminem, with several co-writes on The Eminem Show, Encore and Relapse albums. Other notable co-writes include “Rich Girl” for Gwen Stefani, “Family Affair” for Mary J Blige and the No. 1 hit single “Cowboy Casanova” for Carrie Underwood.

Elizondo’s successes in producing have come in multiple genres, including Maroon 5’s 2x platinum selling album It Won’t Be Soon Before Long, Fiona Apple’s Extraordinary Machine, and Pink’s I’m Not Dead. In 2008, Elizondo was nominated for Producer of the Year at the Grammy Awards. Some of Elizondo’s additional credits include producing for Avenged Sevenfold, Alanis Morissette, The Game, Natasha Beddingfield, Rilo Kiley, Switchfoot, Kate Voegele, Jay-Z, Busta Rhymes, Snoop Dogg, D-12, Xzibit, Nate Dogg, Obie Trice, Kris Allen, Warren G, Macy Gray, Mandy Moore, Eve, Eric Clapton, Sheryl Crow, Nelly Furtado, and Lisa Marie Presley.

Currently, Elizondo is collaborating with: Keith Urban, Maroon 5, Casey Abrams, Haley Reinhart, and Marissa Jack. He is in the studio starting productions for Gary Clark Jr. and Tegan & Sara. He has just completed production for Regina Spektor’s upcoming release.

Elizondo has also co-produced on many motion picture soundtracks. He co-produced the song “Wunderkind” recorded by Alanis Morissette, which appeared on the soundtrack to the film version of The Chronicles of Narnia and was nominated for a Golden Globe Award for Best Song. He also produced the song “I Remain” written by Morissette for the Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time soundtrack.

uhh... mike elizondo is probably more famously known for being a great bass player. he's been featured in many musician magazine(I'm talking shop magazine not gossip shyt) solely for his bass playing. he probably wrote the bassline/helped with the music.:shaq2:

Artists have raw talent, you can hear this in their come up. But when they're signed, more educated and/or experienced ghostwriters help format their raw material into more polished and appealing song structures. They're like "script doctors" in Hollywood. They don't come up with the creative material, they fit it into a proven formula.

Because we know Eminem has lyrical capability no question, it's more likely these guys are helping with the framework.
