Actor Will Smith banned from attending Oscars for ten years

It might seem like a slap on the wrist to us, but to movie studios it could be the difference between choosing Will Smith over another actor who isn't going to harm their chances at award recognition

He won an award I think he will probably go the Action/Sci-fi/Comedy route going forward.

The real question is if he (and/or films he’s associated with) will be informally blackballed from winning Oscars.

That's pretty much what this is.

The reality is that if he can't attend any Academy affiliated with events, he can't do a lot of the campaigning that wraps these things up.

And as a producer, if you're trying to make an Oscar level movie, you don't pay Will Smith what he's asking if you can't leverage him for awards. He's most likely done contending for anything other than maybe Golden Globes for a hot minute. And he's probably done making financially viable roles for a couple of years too, if reports about some of his projects being paused are true.

He'll probably announce an acting hiatus soon, couple with saying he's entering therapy, and come back when some of this has blown over in a few years.

Here is the thing Will stated long ago that he didn't want to do those action movies and that is why he avoided them for so long.

But just like adults who leave certain fields and swear they will never work in that field again. Who eventually return to those fields cause they need the money or been laid off or due to family issues with money. Will is going to do the same....so looks like its time for Hancock 2, Independence day 3, Men in Black 5, I Robot 2 and I AM Legend 2.

Oh well MCU fans might finally get Will to play Blue Marvel or Bishop. IMO he should push to get in an MCU movie to get his image back up. He stars in a MCU movie and has a consistant character that can have their own off shoot movies....that is the quickest way to rehabilitate his career and get a huge payday in the long run.
