As someone who has produced for live TV for over a decade. What Will did was extremely serious on multiple accounts and I said in another thread the Oscars is the closest thing to an American royal event. 10 years is a lot but the Academy wants to send a message that this never happens again.

This is also going to cost Will some opportunities in the long run. This is essentially I wouldn't say a Blackballing but maybe a gray ball.
