Nah, this isn't true at all. Let's say a AAA exclusive is released and nobody else is buying it at the full $60...they can't just sit there with their arms crossed like...NOPE, THE PRICE IS $60! :wtb:

Do I think prices will drop as fast as steam? Nah, but they will drop steadily over time. They actually would drop faster if it was all digital IMO. Simple economics

I'm talking about as a whole. Of course they would drop the price if the game doesn't sell. I was referring to the initial cost of the game. That "engineer" that spoke to defend MS's policies stated that games would eventually get cheaper for consumers as a result of everything going digital and doing away with middlemen like Gamestop. My thoughts were that they would have no reason to drop the prices of the games on release date. Yeah Halo 5 may drop to 30 bucks after people are done buying it, but it won't release at 30 bucks.

Man you know damn well that video games aren't going to get cheaper on the console side. They are milking the shyg out of console gamers with all these add-on features and the likes. All talk.

You don't really expect a AAA title like Halo to release @ $30 on ANY platform do you? Hell Skyrim took forever to go down on steam because it was a constant top 5 seller.

If they were ALL digital (which they never were going to be on consoles) then I would think that weekend sales and flash deals would be common there as well because it literally costs them nothing to do so and generates an incredible amount of hype within minutes on twitter/facebook that outweighs the potential percentage lost on each sale.

I dont expect that, but part of the reason MS was doing all of this was because the 60 dollar model and users being able to trade in games could not coexist........that was according to them. So the implication was that they raised the price of games from 50 to 60 dollars because of added dev costs from HD and "Next Gen" back in 2005 as well as because of the middlemen like Gamespot. So thusly if they were to eliminate those obstacles, mainly the middlemen, then game prices could come down......eventually. Like I said, that MS engineer, which by the way wasn't confirmed but sounded legit, made that very argument. So while Halo may not release at 30 bucks why not 40? How about games that arent triple A titles? How about NBA 2K being able to release for 20 bucks since it releases yearly?

I didn't expect ANY of those things to actually happen. And that was my point. One of the reasons given for all of this was to make it beneficial to the users, but in the end I could only see prices going up if the only people selling the games are MS and Sony. ESPECIALLY when GTA or a new COD drops.
