NFL parity these days is whichever team gets into the playoffs with the least amount of injuries...and of course you can dial the Pats in for a championship game appearance every year. My problem with the NBA is the playoff structure especially in the East. Like everyone knew the cavs would be in 99.9% chance, there was basically no point in watching. Its lame when all the talent is in 1 conference.

Oh i agree I think the teams without those players have basically no shot that's why great parity will never be apart of the nba

But I think with a hard cap at least it would be harder to keep those important players around the star.

Meh

I disagree

If Lebron takes up 60 percent of his teams salary cap then a team with 2 tier 2 level stars and good role players could beat them

It can't get worse than the current setup

When you allow guys like Lebron james, Kevin durant, and steph curry to have better supporting casts than guys like Paul George or Damian lillard then of course the top players will win

Put a hard cap in place and lillard has a better cast than curry

Paul George would have a better supporting cast than lebron

Unless the league steps in and forces squads to draft certain players or trade for certain guys there is no way to guarantee this. All a hard cap does is punish FOs for doing their jobs. Paul George would be rolling with Kawhi right now if his FO was better. But then they wouldn't be able to stay together or it would be the two of them surrounded by bums. No matter what you do, you will always have smart FOs that make good decisions and dumb ones that make bad ones and the best players are always gonna run shyt. A hard cap is not gonna stop teams from overpaying tier 2 stars. It still happens in football all the time. All you gotta do is take the cap off individual salaries and leave everything else how it is.

The Warriors getting there was surprising? :comeon:. The NBA is the most predicatable of all the sports either you like it or you don't. Chances are it was just as "lame" when you started watching.

If you put a hard cap in place, salaries would get depressed, which is why even the 1% don't advocate for it.

Salaries for role players drop
Salaries for stars increase

That's capitalism

Keepin mind the hard cap would be higher than the current cap

and then you know what happens?

Players union civil war, owners cackle.

Whats the union gonna do? Hold out and then cave? They have no other options

Steph curry shouldnt have to subsidize festus ezeli salary

Theres no reason why guys who dont impact wins and losses or generate ticket sales should be making 40-50 percent of what stars make.

disintegrate, which means the owners will destroy them in any bargaining agreement. A union isn't a union if you're not looking out for your fellow man.

The bolded happens in every sport. You have to deal with it.

the real life numbers say that youre wrong

aaron rodgers, cam newton, eli manning, rothelisburger and russell wilson all made 20+ mil

doug martin just signed a contract for 7 mil and he made the probowl

the 10 highest paid baseball players make 25+ mil per year

do random bums in baseball make 10-12 mil per year?

a well timed hot streak (which most people mistake for parity) then the NBA aint the league for you :yeshrug:.
If enough teams use a well timed hot streak to win titles, then there is parity. The main way to winning is to ready your team to have their hot streak in the playoffs. Good coaches do this.
I actually believe we are heading into an era within their next five years where every team will legit be competitive

I mean, this really just stating the obvious / common sense shyt

NFL has three different facets to the game that have multiple different players with individual assignments.

You're not gonna have parity in the NBA because of the simple fact that there isn't enough superstars to go around. Superstars in a 5 man line up are obviously gonna have more of an impact than superstars in a 11/11/11 line up.
