How do you manage? I no longer take adderall, and I swear I cannot get anything done. I can't seem to finish anything and I'm at the age I need to be productive, but can't be zombified and dropping weight from forgetting to eat, and dependent on a pill.

How can I focus and get things done, better yet, How can I stay organized?

Weed helped without getting stupid high
I used to use it, til I got arrested for possession and now after probation. my tolerance is too low to even enjoy it anymore.

I've been on medication for so long, idk if I can function without it. real talk.

If you are looking for a safe non illegal way, music can help as it can help you focus and kinda help with the constant wanting to move, even if its just background noise

How old were you when you were diagnosed and how old were you when you started taking medication?

16 when I started, 23 now. When i first started I lost a bunch of weight. As of now, I stopped taking it cuz I was always staying up, not eating, and not being productive on it. I figured I could use a break at the least.

But I really can't focus. It's like I get too bored unless I'm attempting to do 5 things at once. y mind jumps from one thing to another.

What's the difference between ADD and ADHD? :patrice:

ADD is ADHD without the hyperactivity.

Some of my friends are ADHD, those are the types to not be able to finish a story when they speak, running from one thing to the next. jsut all over the place. Taking medication usually makes these people slow down.

ADD is more tame, I don't get hyper, I'm more inattentive. I just can pay attention to one thing for a period of time. I don't have any quirks like ADHDers who rock their feet or are always moving even when sitting. If I'm not stimulated I get tired. Medication gives me more energy actually but also more focus .

That's a long time to be on medication.

I am a bit like what you described. As a kid had i grown up in the UK, I probably would have been diagnosed, put on medication and sat foundation tier (easier but can't get higher than a C in school)

I am telling you all this because whereas people who are like you who weren't diagnosed and not given medication, these people had to grow up learning how to cope, learning what works for them even if it goes against the grain. My mum for example always told me you have to do one thing at a time, had to go against that. so I only ever have to think about one thing for a limited time and can have something else ready to jump to when I'm bored.

When I'm sat in a lecture a trick I use is thinking of it like I have an unfinished puzzle (either the coursework/report or my life/career) and what the teacher says may be the perfect piece to slot in. Although I'm not thinking about one thing I'm sat there having multiple scenarios bouncing in my head while I listen.

You will figure it out. You have to work harder than the average person and the ones who may be similar to you but without the tag line. The ones who didn't grow up being reliant on medication.

You can do this. First off you have to realise that you are okay how you are. How you think and your needs may not be average but your inability to focus on one thing is not a handicap. It's a special advantage that means you can have multiple fronts and jump between them, something that would confuse average people.

In time you will have awesome multi tasking skills and be more productive than the average. Give yourself the time and patience to rebalanced without medication and get to know yourself and what works no matter how unlike your parents or the people around you it is.

Work with your time frame and what comes naturally. You really will be okay and you can do this.

How many milligrams was your Adderall dosage? If its too much to where you are forgetting to eat then you need to lower dosages to where you can function normally.

I remember my psychologist telling me that going on without adhd meds is the equivalent of drunk driving because can't focus.

Was diagnosed with ADHD and I told my folks I wasn't taking Adderall anymore around 3rd grade.
Hated how it made me feel and even at that age I was conscious about taking meds while my peers just got up, ate breakfast and went to school.
Had trouble initially, but I managed. By high school, it was under control.
College was a fight due to the length of a lot of the science courses, but I managed to come out with a GPA 3.5 < and was accepted to professional school.
ADHD is tough but if you find ways to burn off some of that energy, it'll benefit you.
Between studying, my gf, TheColi, Cracked, and Netflix, that physical activity has to take precedence.
For me it was and still is the gym, running, and basketball.
It won't completely solve your issue, but it'll help if you can find the time for it.
