Great advice.

Do you just ask your doc/psychiatrist for the different drugs -- meaning ask to try? Or have you had luck with your doc trying/offering suggestions for different meds.

In the 5+ years - I have only tried Adderall and Adderall XR. I did ask about Vvyanse -- but that price had me like nah.

I started on Vyvanse, but my doctor wanted me to try Concerta. Never asked to switch back or anything, new doctor wanted me to go to a specialist and get reevaluated but I wasn't trying to do all that for some medication. Other than that I just bought or got from a friend, only been prescribed two different medications.

One thing I remember was when I was on Vyvanse there was a thing on their website to apply to get it for free or something. I can't find it right now but here's something else to help with costs I think Registration

Edit: I think this was it Shire Patient Services: Shire Cares Program

Honestly adderall is worse than meth.

Meth keeps you up longer. But adderall gets you way more tweaked out. Amphetamines aren't something you should be taking on a regular basis... Or ever. Just quit cold turkey. Realise what it is (poison) and drop that shyt. Now.

I heard modafanil is good. Ive never tried it.

I just use cocaine, indicas,"and discipline to combat my add.

Concerta made me sweat crazy, hated that shyt. But overall it was a lot cleaner than Adderall. Ritalin is the worst, the comedowns had me feeling depressed.

I like Vyvanse at low doses, I don't really like using stimulants anymore.

But to answer your question, there is also Evekeo, which is closer to Adderall than Vyvanse. Concerta has a stimulant like effect, albeit much less noticeable, probably a poor option. I don't take it for ADHD though.

I've noticed recently that Etizolam does a good job of quieting my thoughts down too (it's essentially a benzo so of course). Doesn't give you the "focus" and make things interesting and easy to keep doing, but it helps you have clear thoughts. This is way more addictive than amphetamines.

Caffeine and L-Theanine works well for me too, takes away the jitteryness of caffeine. L-Theanine pairs well with amphetamines too, same with low doses of benzos. The stimulated feeling is what I hate most, not worth it for the clear mind and focus.

Taking breaks might be an option too. For example, only Monday-Friday and not on weekends, or one week on one week off. There's always mindfulness meditation too.
great advice, I'm on the mindful meditation tip. Yeah the problem I have is that my internal thoughts are loud and I get distracted easily by external shyt. Even if I use concerta, it basically works how I want it when I'm in a quiet environment outside of my home. Otherwise, it's a crapshoot with wack side-effects. If ever try that stuff again I might try modafinil.

For now though it's meditation, exercise and fish pills sometimes. I'm not extremely productive as I was before but I feel better without it

It's all natural, it helps you focus and relaxes you at the same time. Not addictive at all. I sometimes go weeks without using it but when I do I get a ton of shyt done. It makes your dreams super vivid too along with a bunch of other benefits.

Btw I never took adderall a day in my life but from what ya'll describing this has the same benefits.

Here's a link for an EPUB version of "Mindfulness in Plain English". Great read if you're looking to start.

I take 10 MG of Fluoxetine every day & 30 MG of Addy on the days I have important shyt to do like class/the gym/job interview

I noticed that my biggest problems when it came to ADHD were binge eating & paying attention to things that were necessary but didn't really pique my interest.

Tbh, Adderall has helped with the OVER-eating but my eating patterns are just regular now.:yeshrug: I get hungry for breakfast, lunch & dinner.

It's helped me FOCUS in class/work so I can pay attention to lectures/tasks, but otherwise what helped me the most with procrastination was realizing that I'm a damn adult now and I have to take my education SERIOUSLY if I want to succeed in life :yeshrug:I guess I matured

The biggest side effect of Adderall has been not being able to sleep, but I take a Unisom before bed now so I'm good

You're not addicted to it if you're worried about gaining weight without it. It curves your appetite so if anything you're going back to your natural eating habits, especially if you're on 50mg.

But if you feel as though you truly are a meth addict then vyvanse is the way to go. There's no other alternative better if your adhd is that severe.

Got it - Thanks for explaining. I am not a fan of Adderall XR.

Any IR (instant release) stim alternatives that are less addictive and won't make me gain a ton?
What're the differences you notice between the two?

The initial kick in. IR within 30 mins -I feel it. With XR - I didn't know if and when it had kicked in or not. The initial onset with IR really helps me get my day going and work.
It tapers off a lot quicker though, doesn't it?

I saw a market for it in college and got a script, but didn't take much of it myself

People said they preferred the IR tablets for obvious reasons
