I agree with you on the Adele stuff as far as rating. We've heard black women match or sound close to her vocals but never get the credit. I'm sorry...the fact that she's white and sounds like she does is the only reason that woman has 200 million views on youtube and Lianne La Havas (black) has 1 million. It has nothing to do with how great the song or vocals are.
The discrepancy in their voices isn't that wide of a gap. That's just fact. Adele's race blew her up, just like Em in rap. Yes, they are both very talented but its not Whitney nah I can't give her that. nope

I never said that, I don't think she had a great voice because she isn't versatile. It has nothing to do with the emotion, it's her voice, it's exactly the same all the time.

Beyonce is very talented,
she is also very lucky that she does not have any competition to compete with in these modern times,
unlike Whitney, Anita, Mariah and Sade who all had to fight for their title when there was nothing but competition around them.
Adele is talented too,
nothing special.
She is fortunate to be in a time and place where most African Americans can give two twats about "soul" music coming from "us".
If she came out in the 90's,

glad you added to this post. I was just about to say...I don't think its that Bey doesn't have competition...the singers are out there, its just that we aren't appreciating 'our' soul music like we need to. So the pop stuff Bey puts out shines

I have to cosign this whole post. Adele is a great talent, but she is overrated. Same with Beyonce. I'd personally take Lianne La Havas, Jill Scott, and Jennifer Hudson over both of them just to name a few.
edit: I'm definitely taking the late Ms. Winehouse over both of them too.

but yeah, Jhud is overrated and is nothing more than a replacement for the gap that Fantasia was suppose to fill but Fantasia refuses to get her act together.
To this day I haven't seen J hud put on a performance like this Something that just grabs your inside (even though her voice is churchy)
