I shy away from most mainstream artists, never heard her stuff outside of like three tracks, they were whatever to me.

But I'm about to give in and buy her albums. I collect cds, and she is supposedly a "real artist" with a diverse set of fans. That speaks for something.

Not a fan yet, but Hip hop is more than just rap, it's a a culture, can't say, yet, but Adele may be Hip hop. Just saying, don't shoot the messenger.

It just comes down to supply and demand. next time they go over the numbers and decide on how to allocate their resources for the next quarter you might see less focus on hip-hop and more on Adele/Sam Smith type music. You might see them put talent above "marketability". It's all up in the air but there's huge implications to an album selling 3 million in it's first week
