So we beat our chest and say how we refuse to pay for anything, but we think our voice should be heard as far as who wins what award or what artist should be pushed..
We say oh the grammys is a bunch of old CAC's they don't know what they are talking about (which is true) but why do we give these old out of touch white folks so much credibility with judging OUR music (that we are proud to admit we don't and wont ever pay for).. These people look at record sales and equate that to fanbase, if you want A Jill Scott to be on her level than we need a million black people to support her, but we too cool to buy music...

We cant wait to say someone from our genre has fallen off or is cold, we love saying shyt like he too old to be rapping or he had his shine now its time for him to pass the tourch.. my point is how can you be mad at her success if she is actually talented and her fanbase supports her?

I don't get the hype to be honest. Personally her music does nothing for me and I've heard better singers known and unknown. That's not to discredit her because she can clearly sing.

Vocally I don't understand how much better she could be to some of the other talent that have hit the industry both past and present.

Her voice got some soul and power to it, but I don't think she's head and shoulders above the rest when it comes to doing runs and hitting notes.

White singers in general always get that extra push that blacks don't get.
