No one is mad at their music. They are mad at their accolades. No one gets mad at indy artists who do the same thing. It is that simple. Swift being treated as if she is Winehouse or something is some sort of weird ass middle america privilege though. No one acted like Avril Lavigne and Michelle Branch were goat. But no one ever gets mad until someone starts getting superhype. If Paul Wall outsold TI same would happen.
idk. paul wall was kind of thorough for a white breh :ehh:

adele is "talented" but not any moreso than a average soul singer whose is of color. bytch doesn't even do soul if we are tbch. her music is overproduced to hell.

jill scott is underrated as hell and one of the best singers we've had since the year 2000 :whew:

her latest album is really good too :wow:

she don't get the props and support she deserves at all but that woman's voice is beautiful and lord knows she got tons of great and classic songs:ohlawd:
That's why I can't support ADELE like that(tryin to figure out how u do:why:)....she clearly replaced the bellowing black female rnb singer(or at least they tryin)...Adele is London's push onto to soul charts...hands shook and Jill had to go...I'm cool on CAC REPLACEMENTS:camby:

But not Adele heavy like that:mjlol:
I listen to all types of music. Lady Gaga, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Hall and Oates, AC/DC, Nirvana, etc.

With that being said, I don't care about Adele.
Sure she has a large voice, a broad wide fanbase, and her songs are in heavy rotation but :yeshrug:

The myth of this site not being mostly black has to go away.
These cats think because they are white or other than black that means this is a factor...BUT NOT WHEN MOST OF WHAT EVERYONE WANTS TO DISCUSS ARE BLACK TOPICS...you are what your content is...not who is displaying the content.

ESPN IS ESPN because of sports content ...bet is bet because of content (not everyone who works there is black but...the black content draws eyes)...same here, all the races that post here are generally close to or interest in black issues...THIS IS A predominantly BLACK issues/sports SITE:francis:...cats in denial:mjlol:

This is a big reason why I don't listen to white artist with "soul".

I remember when those Tyler Perry joints were just getting poppin' and nikkas had them shyts on bootleg VHS. My aunt was into them shyts crazy. There was this one where some nikkas was singing and I remember everyone in the living room just sitting and listening like :ehh: . Then this white woman gets up and sings and everybody in the living room was like :ohhh: :gladbron: :krs:

I was the only person like :dwillhuh: . I asked everybody what was the difference and they couldn't really tell me so I just said it. "Yall just acting like that becuz she white" and the room went silent.

So yeah... I'm not saying the bytch can't sing. She's got some talent but I'm not about to act stupid becuz a white woman got some "soul".

Its really not unique to Jill. Most soul artist don't get coverage they should compared to even their RnB counterparts and soul artist are head and shoulders above them in talent. Its not anything new unfortunately.

It's not the same as Fergie,Gwen Stefani, and Ke$ha being direct white, PG, watered down replacements for black female rappers. Hollaback Girl and all that other bullshyt was a friendly, kidz bop version of rap that white moms could let their daughters get into. So female rappers disappeared, til Nicki became a star.

I don't think it's even the same as Justin Timberlake or Robin Thicke being the clean cut versions of Usher, Maxwell, etc.

I think Adele content wise appeals to a sentiment in people, and grown women in particular, that a lot of people relate to. Mary J Blige and Alicia Keys became stars by making the same emotional music and even white women related to it somehow.

And the sound/style of music Adele makes reaches the broadest audience. But that's because the UK loves pop and soul music and they produce/adore/consume the purest version of pop music. So they churn out pop/soul artists that are inspired by the great black soul artists of the past. That's how we got The Beatles,Rolling Stones, Adele, Amy Winehouse, Jessie J, Sam Smith, Emeli Sande, etc. Even The XX are making their white version of the R&B music they love from the 90s.

The UK has been behind this 60s/70s soul revival that was missing from American music. So Adele isn't replacing current black artists. She's just making music everyone always loved, that wasn't really being made by many female mainstream artists. It's pure pop/soul, like Alicia Keys, Whitney, or Mary J when she got to the No More Drama/Be Without You stage of her career.
