There were blacks in the eighties joined up with the 'firms' (gangs) attached to some of the football ,or as you americans call it soccer teams. Some of these 'firms' have hardcore criminal and even white nationalist links and they were blatant about the racism . Some of these blacks,joined in , in the racist attacks on asians (indian and pakistani) as well during that period(the media tried to make it out to be just white men doing it,and hushed it up,but folk who lived there back then knew the truth, it was black and whites in gangs against asians) and it wasn't unknown to see a few black men marching with the national front (the racist white power party of the UK) . Iam not excusing it, but you have to remember these black and white lads were from the most poor parts of london, these gangs gave them something to belong to and some reason to exist. During the period of time, the UK was really messed up, as in the seventies we had disasterous years of socialist rule and ineffectual conservative government, and in the eighties mrs thatcher came in and the medicine she prescribe made life even worse for a good while, there was race riots the lot.
