The stoop with dat dope fanny padding
Only thing debatable is the age of the kids. Black kids in the hood been gettin that ass tore up since forever. White ppl care about black kids when its convenient for them

Stop making this a race thing. This is Adrian Petersen being a child abuser, that's it.

STOP SPEAKING ON BEHALF OF ALL BLACK PEOPLE - this isn't a race issue. Is it an AA thing to always feel the need to go there?
i' never got beatings.
i'm black and i find AP disgusting. beating the shyt out of ur kids in 2014 leaving open wounds is not ok!!
if you were treated like that by your parents, oh well sucks for you.

See now you have combined two separate issues. 1 is the issue that many believe using physical punishment at all is child abuse, that is the statement Chris Carter made and one I absolutely disagree with. 2 is that you could believe AD went too far, i could see where those people are coming from and i can agree with it, but we have to be careful to make a distinction between an actual child abuser and someone who just went to far with their punishment. Many of us grew up getting whoopins with switches and dont think anything is wrong with the practice as long as you dont go overboard with it. Now we can sit here and argue all day about whether or not you think someone should be able to whoop their children with a belt, switch, or any type of foreign object but we will never get anywhere as people have firm beliefs on what is the best method to discipline their kids and unless you are in the house with them you dont know what does and doesnt work with them.
The road to hell is paved with good intentions. His heart may have been in the right place but his actions were wrong none the less. The marks are a sign of his abuse. I don't think you need to beat a kid at all but if you deem that necessary at least don't draw blood and leave marks.

The thing is, I think there is an age where the spanking doesn't do much good in the sense that they don't even understand it. I was in a store the other day and it looked like a 17-20 year old with a baby in the cart...maybe a year old or a little more. Her mom was with her. Well she put her goofy sunglasses with a bunch of glitter, shiny stuff on them within reach of the little baby girl. I'm watching the little girl and they aren't paying any attention.....girl picks up the sunglasses....why? Because they are shiny and pretty and right there. What do they think she's gonna do? I think....awww that is cute...then all of a sudden the momma girl turns around and slaps the heck out of that baby's arm.

Watching that little baby go from an innocent sparkle to compete confused terror kind of messed me up. I had to stop myself from telling the momma off. Its like, if you are so stupid to put your sunglasses that close if you care that much about them. The grandmomma said something and the momm goes "Oh she's gonna learn not to touch my stuff" or something.

So I get it, that isn't the same thing, and I am not against spanking, but what age does it work? Even at 4 its a little dicey as to whether they "get it" or not. And if you do it, you need to be really careful. I'd be scared to try and do the right level of spanking to a child 5 and under. And if somebody has gotten really mad and loses themselves in the emotion, that isn't the time to do it. Like some old movie where its an older kid and you tell em they are going to get their spanking......that night or something. Make them think about it all day and you are then calmed down too. Some old Little House on the Prairie stuff or back a few years ago when they still paddled in school.

Its a complete over reaction. People are acting as if he got drunk every night and beat his kids. That is an abuser. Its 100% clear that he was raised a certain way and thought it was the proper way to raise his own kids. The media is out to paint this man as a complete monster and its not on the merit of only this act, its clear as day that people want to lump this in with the Ray Rice deal to paint the NFL in an even worse light. This happened in 2013, was thrown out of court, but now all of a sudden it makes headlines and the NFL has to act. Why? Its obvious.

Whats even worse is all the people on the "You shouldnt whoop the child, you need to sit the child down and explain why the act they performed was wrong and why they are being punished, thats how you curb bad behavior" tip. Why not use that same sentiment here? AD clearly had no idea what he was doing was wrong since he and most likely everyone in his family was whooped like that. Why not give him a slight punishment, send him to counseling, and show him why what he was doing is wrong? Because the media wants the circus, the anti-NFL people want to point fingers, and the anti-spanking people want to shout from the mountain top that all spanking is abuse.

Just because he didn't know any better doesn't make it right.

Why are you copping pleas?

The severity of the way he beat his child is what brought this out.

Not sure why I keep seeing "spanking" being brought up in this thread. Calling what AP did spanking is perhaps the understatement of the century. It was a beating with a stick of a four year old boy by a 200 pound professional football player, not some smacks on the ass by your mom. Lets keep that in perspective.

I wanted AP banned but I don't know why the nfl is folding to all this pressure, this is not the 60s or 70s people don't have the discipline to stop watching or showing up for NFL games, the league is too big.

and we all agree AP deserves to be punished for what he did...No one is defending his actions...The difference between us logical folks and these outraged of the moment liberal fakkits is we try to understand why this man did what he did to his child...AP's intent is very important and its also very clear...Like you said, he don't know any better, he's raising his kids the same way he was...The man even said he realized after he administered the whoopin that he OD'd and felt terrible about it...A child abuser wouldn't say something like that, a child abuser finds joy in a child's pain that's why he/she does it...This is clearly something AP deeply regrets but the media and these of the moment cornballs don't want to hear that...They just want to demonize and bury this man...
