I was spanked as a child, sometimes with belts and switches. I don't hit my children because spanking didn't work on me. I don't judge parents who discipline their children in a measured and calm way though . Keyword being measured.
But stripping a 4 year old naked, hitting in the scrotum, leaving him with cuts, stuffing leaves in his mouth and then sending a text to take pride in it? That sounds like a fukked up individual. Like someone who took pleasure in it.
Who would look at their own 4 year old son and think that is the right course of action to take because a child was acting like a child ? I can't comprehend it. People are acting like he spanked him lightly with his hand or something.

In the Carribean, disciplining kids with a tree branch is common too. My mom would reach for the closest thing and throw it at me when I answered her back.
I think spankings represent poor parenting skills but it is what it is.
