If you whoop your kid hard enough where there is physical evidence after, I would say that is child abuse. I got spanked and whooped as a kid but nothing that put bruises or scar on me.

I had some welps but it went away, not beating me to the white meat and shyt.

You're making excuses and it's disgusting. You should never need to use a weapon on a 4 year old to begin with. And not only do they have tender skin, they have a low threshold for pain. He could've spanked him and sent a strong enough message, there was simply no need to beat him that badly.

The level of athlete worship I've seen over the last week is disturbing. The Ray Rice was situation was bad enough, but now people are actually making excuses for a man with the strength of an elite NFL running back beating a 4 year-old. My parents believed in corporal punishment, but it never crossed the line into physical abuse. If Adrian Peterson beat a random man on the street to the point of leaving bruises and welts he'd locked up right now. Just because it's his child doesn't make it any less wrong.

well.. im not gonna blame it on being abused.. but i feel like how my parents treated me kinda contributes to some of my issues.

but when i was younger i had really bad anger issues.

but im bipolar 2, i suffer from manic depression and severe social anxiety.

i also have trouble with showing affection towards others and accepting human affection. i reject it.

i grew up in an alcoholic abusive abrasive anger filled home. instead of "talking things out" my parents would get angry, yell, throw and smash things, scream at each other and be violent. if i did something wrong, my dad would scream at me and beat me. he bit the shyt out of my face one, time screaming in my face before he whooped my ass with a belt. neither of my parents are abusive or alcoholics anymore, but my dad is a lot like me now in how we show emotion & affection. im more sensitive and sympathetic, though. he's just kinda calm and cold now. but my mom is one of the most impatient anger filled people i know. she's very cold hearted. and both of them grew up abusive and dysfunctional families as well.

I don't have a problem with the methods AD used at all. It's his child discipline as he sees fit. Just trying to wrap my head around the age factor and the excessiveness behind it.

Don't think he should lose his season or be persecuted for this but 4 years old seems a bit too young to even comprehend or understand this type of whooping.
