To be fair...I got plenty of homeboys that got whoopings and still ended up doing numbers in the pen....On the flipside, I got a gang of homeboys whom were kept on a straight path because of those whoopins.....If you a grew up in a tough environment with a lot of dangerous elements, parents\grandparents were doing anything to prevent the streets from taking their babies....Sometimes it worked...Sometimes it didn't....

I'm not really for beating kids. Kid fukks up send them to their room for 1 month with nothing in there but a bed and educational books. No video games, No TV, no friends, no going outside to play, no telephone conversations, no internet for 1 month. every time it happens again double it. I guarantee you that's more effective and last longer than a few minute long beating.

Like I said when I was a kid i'd take the beating. Sure it hurt but it was quick and over with and I could go about my life. Take away all enjoyable forms of entertainment and that's long term suffering.

Put it like this, out of all the young kids in my family under 15 years old. None of them have ever been beat with switches or belts. My lil nieces and nephews, my little cousins have never been subjected to physical discipline. Why is that breh?

My parents never put their hands on me or hit me with anything and I have always had nothing but respect for them. Their punishment for me fukking up was to take shyt away. The last thing I wanted to do was to sit in my room inside and not allowed to play with my friends or watch TV, etc.. I have two cousins that were both whipped with switches constantly by the same people for the same reasons.. One is a successful businessman and the other is a habitual felon that's committed almost every violent crime under the sun and has been institutionalized since 15...

My wife and her sister both got equal discipline aswell... My wife is a college graduate and school teacher with 2 kids both from the same man... Her sister has 10 kids by 8 different men, is a stripper and an extreme alcoholic with a history of violent acts..

What did the whoopings really accomplish?

That's the problem, people never learned how to isolate variables. They've been told a single variable (beatings) is the difference and so they attribute success to that instead of everything else.

Different strokes for different folks. Some kids you can talk things out and they'll learn their lessons and some kids need spankings to get the message through. Neither has a perfect average at helping kids become sensible adults, but you can use a combination of both and hope that your parenting skills will lead them to becoming a good adult, that's how I feel about it.

There is no blueprint to raising a child. We are all individual reflections of our own experiences even if our experiences are parallel, no two people react to the same circumstance with the same conclusion. Family or otherwise.
