As a parent it's your job to know your kid and understand what works, there is no one method that's gonna get the job done... For me it was moreso a want to NOT hurt my momz or grandma or have them disappointed in shyt I may have did.. That level of respect was accomplished without fear of ass whippings... Right now I pluck my 3 year old, cause his level of understanding is not quite there, but I'm sure I'll use different tactics along the way.... The people who are okay with whoopings, who are againstthe ap shyt, is mmostly due to the ageiof the child, not the punishment itself...

Different strokes for different folks. Some kids you can talk things out and they'll learn their lessons and some kids need spankings to get the message through. Neither has a perfect average at helping kids become sensible adults, but you can use a combination of both and hope that your parenting skills will lead them to becoming a good adult, that's how I feel about it.

Been hit with combs, brooms, anything in arms reach. I'm a better man for it. In 2014 perhaps that's abuse. In 1992 it was a lesson learned.

There is a clear difference n Ray rice KOing his wife out of anger in a fight, and AD disciplining his kid by swinging a switch at his legs and going to far. Like the difference between manslaughter and murder... Intentions matter in this case.
If they thought AD intentions were to cause bodily injuries then they would have charged him with something different.

I got my fair share of whoopins from my father, but I don't know that I will do the same to my kids someday.
That being said, there is some validation to it at times so I don't rule it out totally.
But the part about Peterson saying, "I got him the in the nuts" and putting leaves in is mouth is inexcusable on all fronts. And my parents never whooped me on the front/side of my legs, only on my butt. Certainly never by te private parts.

@ comments on the internet justifying this because they got beatings as a kid. That era is over. Like anything you gotta adjust with times. There are much better ways to discipline a kid.Even if you are gonna spank, you don't go all out on a 4 year old.

Because society at large gives more respect to grown adult women then they do innocent children. Here is some of the ass backward logic that " we" live by:
"A real man should NEVER put his hands on a woman, no matter what"
But society says that's its somehow acceptable for grown men and women to hit children the ages of 4 and 5 with belts and switches while they scream with terror
When a woman hits a man,spits on a man etc society says that men should exercise restraint and simply walk away.
But when it comes to whoopin a kids ass, this "restraint" is then thrown out the window
Grown women are given more provisions, passes, get more excuses made for them, are protected more than little kids that are 3 times smaller than them and don't even have a fully developed brain yet. Just think about that for a second.
Society does not hold women accountable for their actions, but expects small children to be held accountable
You can use a bent and belt buckle and beat the shyt out of your 4 year old , but if even leave a bruise on your girlfriends wrist, yo azz is goin to jail
