Wearing jerseys as a fashion statement is more of an American thing though. People aren't really rocking football (soccer) jerseys unless they're playing in them or going to watch a game. The NBA having sleeved jerseys isn't really going to improve their marketability over here.

People are just scared of things they aren't used to.

Being a soccer fan, you don't even think about the logo - it has no bearing on the 'authenticity' of a moment.

Basketball players might as well wear blank headbands and blank sneakers and blank everything (hiding the logo), might as well remove the ads from the basketball court, if that's how people really feel.

Bottom line - people will get used to it, they're just comfortable w/o it for the time being
