Sorry. I'm tryna watch this show...

Did Hometown Hobbs just win a street fight with a... standing 10 count? :gucci:
Am I understanding that situation correctly?

I don’t know if that was the original plan but Big Bill’s arm was literally trapped in the barbed wire so they had to do something.

didnt know about the history about the robe or Jimmy Rave. I saw the part of the toilet paper and was like damn thats Ricochet cuz they threw TP at him. guess thats where they got the idea from. also kinda sounds like how Jimmy Rave was described, a smug character.

To be fair, Bill got choke slammed off the the stairs that were on the stage, through a table covered in tangles of barbed wire. Ain't no way you get up from that

Jimmy Rave was a POS in kayfabe. Based on the history of how Jimmy Rave was actually like (in kayfabe), Ricochet is a much more appropriate person to be wearing the robe than Swerve. The description Prince Nana gave for what the robe represented was very much a romanticized version to honor a lost friend than a historically accurate representation.

Jimmy Rave was one of the most hated heels in ROH but they never committed to making him one of their main guys for whatever reason. It certainly wasn't because he couldn't wrestle or couldn't get a crowd reaction. Guy was even working New Japan in 2008 wrestling in the Best of the Super Juniors and the Junior Heavyweight Title tournament, and that was while also working for TNA during the height of it's popularity along with golden era ROH!

But looks like drug addiction was his downfall after 2009, according to Wikipedia. Perhaps ROH knew about that too and that's why they never got behind him in any major way, but that was also when ROH was a murderer's row of current or future stars of WWE, NXT, AEW, TNA, Japan, and peak-of-popularity ROH talent. Like imagine trying to get a top level push when competing with the following guys either in the primes, on their way up, or "big" names who are obviously going to get featured. And this was just from 2004-09. List spoilered since it's quite long and features probably dozens of people who are going to be going in various individual company and industry-wide halls of fame or are already in some of them.

Probably knee jerk reaction, but kind of felt the Nana/Rico stuff is really just more seeds for Nana ultimately turning on Swerve.

You see it too?

Add the below video to the equation too.

Add in the REAL history of the robe and Nana’s managerial history (was always a heel manager), and it would seem evident that’s the direction this story is going.

They aren’t on the same page. Both clearly quite frustrated with each other. Dissension is brewing.

I bet Nana secretly blames Swerve for the robe getting stolen. Probably feels like Swerve brought dishonor to the robe for losing it.

I bet Nana didn’t want Swerve to be there when he confronted Ricochet because he doesn’t think Swerve has what it takes to beat Ricochet and get the robe back and doesn’t deserve the robe anymore.

Can’t beat him? Join him. Ricochet’s character is tailor made for what that robe always represented in ROH. As I said before, Nana was always a heel manager in ROH and was in AEW too until the fans made Swerve turn face.
