WWE vibes with some American Gladiators and Ninja Warrior mixed in
Being a designer the grunge look fit their demographic, standing in the business, and current aesthetics (Y2K/Indie Rockstar) more. They just executed it poorly bc you need more than paint splotches and Adult Swim brackets anchoring logos. But it was still something that differentiated, now there's no difference in the two
Not to mention this overpolished cinema feel doesn't fully work for wrestling. It can work in certain spots but it's not a coincidence the scratch W is liked more than the polished turd they use now. There's gritty energy that wrestling just needs to have.
