Thanks for sharing those links. I can't lie New Orleans wasn't even on my radar personally especially since I'm not really into whole mardi gras nonsense too much but I'm gonna have to take a second look at it and maybe visit again at a different time of year.



Evidence points towards the contrary, two of the cities i listed alone (Philly and Detroit) are already starting to see the same gentrification trends other cities are dealing with that disfavor black people despite being the majority racial group in those cities. People can do whatever they want with their money, but I'm just saying that not spending it wisely and keeping the big picture in mind could bring some bad consequences to their people and/or their descendants in the future, and they can take that for what they will. The two concepts don't have to be mutually exclusive, it is entirely possible keep your eyes on the prize while also letting others know what's at the end of the tunnel and many successful people even do just that, but yeah I see where you're coming from on that one.

To me at least in Philly gentrification is mainly about money not race. I mean I see white faces but I also see a few blacks too. The problem is enough blacks aren't getting money and why some is definitely because of some other stuff that has nothing to do with skills a lot of other stuff that involves personal accountability is also involved IMO. I know a few cats that live in recently gentrified parts of Philly and even posted about a black dude making a killing off of it too. Too often people like to bytch and complain instead of doing things similar to what the guy in the article did and have a million excuses why they can't and that irks the shyt out of me.

Outside the c00n part I agree with everything living on the east coast. Down south is cool but there is a reason property isn't as expensive down there as it is here. Budget balling going on a lot down there but I'm not mad at them for doing it just not really my twist outside a few spots down south.

Look deeper into those numbees, having a bunch of mom and pop shops arent really putting people to work, as the owners tend to be the main employees. While i am not knocking or saying that is bad but it will be a great day when we get to a level of having black owned businesses that employ people by the thousands.

It without a doubt has the makings of a mecca. 91% above the poverty line. Boy if the right folks set up shop there they could take it to an epic level.

I live in ATL, where you have a VERY affluent black pop along with large number lf businesses owned by blacks, but once again there are not that many that employ a large number of blacks, and many of the affluent blacks in ATL are just blacks with good positions at non black companies. IMO Atl has the bones and potential to be the blueprint of a true SELF SUFFICIENT black mecca if the people here decide to kick it up a notch.
