To make matters worse Africa doesn't really have the trained engineers to maintain all the infrastructure that China is building. Maintenance cost will go through the roof.

Breh I honestly think that Africa as a continent is done (whith the exception of a few countries). Once the fourth industrial revolution kicks into high gear (AI, iOT, edge computing etc.) there's really not much we can do to catch up to the rest of the world .

I'm African myself. He has a point. I'm starting to think that we are just short sighted. Take a look at how the Japanese reacted when Matthew Perry hit their shores. That led to the Meiji Restoration and Japan transformed itself from a feudal farm based country to a modern industrial powerhouse in less than 20 years. They went on to become the first nonwhite country to defeat a white country (Russia). Why didn't a single African country do that???

You're running in circles but my point still stands. until literacy rates go up and science/math is prioritized over there, there's not much advancing that we can do. Keep in mind that the Meiji Restoration (Japan) and Deng Xiaoping (China) both focused on making sure that their citizens were literate and proficient in science and math. This is honestly what lead to both countries advancing so fast. Before you say "Japan had the help from America", I am talking about Japan before WW1. Most African countries instead are filled with superstition and religion; literacy rates barely crack 50 percent in some areas SMH.

Nigeria has the potential to be a world power but they don't seem to care to educate their lower class (India has the same problem). Angola, Kenya, and Ghana has potential as well. Other than that, the other countries are pretty much done for .

Lol, the single fact that the article is talking about debts and not mentioning that countries like France have locked their old colonies into contracts that handed over their gold mines to france and forced them to use France's currency made me throw up a little.

Take the Chinese debt and in return you get real infrastructure built and no real political dictation on you. Drawback, you end up not able to pay it and it accumulates
