Africans selling slaves and fueling western colonialism is one of the biggest self induced L's in human history.

Complete failure of leadership.
Were these actual trade agreement between two nations?
From what i've read in history...
This shyt was mostly just verbal agreements between a western government and some random negroes they happened to meet when they came to Africa.
That is different than government sanctioned trade deals between two sovereign nations.
Similiar to how the American government manipulated the native Americans by going behind tribal chieftains backs and "purchasing" land from some drunk who has no claim to it in exchange for alcohol. They marketed it as "everyman a chief" saying they were empowering each native, when really they were just going around their leadership.
Some random tribe of africans doesn't have rights to sell rival tribes into slavery, so treating it as a legit deal between africa and europe is disingenous imo.
They kidnapped the people and got some randoms to cosign it, that is all.

To be fair, the tribes who sold others into slavery weren't hip to the extreme abuse that colonizers were putting them through.

All slavery is immoral IMO, but slavery in Western Africa wasn't nearly as inhumane as the chattel slavery of the NAST.

I doubt you could sell that volume of people if it was just "random people" orchestrating the whole thing.

Guns mostly. Guns which they used to expand their wealth and power. Which meant conquering more lands and beeding more people. This era absolutely devastated Africa. Africa wasnt very populated during this time period so to lose that many people had a massive effect.
Guns? So if you can expound on this trade (if you don't mind) because I've always been confused about what was traded. Because alot of people state that slaves were given up in the hopes that they wouldn't be next. So why would slave traders give weapons to people who could then use them to weaponize against people who eventually came and took their land:patrice:

So which African country did they have this trade agreement with? Kenya? Nigeria? What president or ruler signed off on it, why isn't any countries or sovereign rulers ever named? Why did it span multiple regions, was there a multi country deal?
We barely have trade relationships with africa today, but back then they orchestrated a deal with multiple nations to take their people in exchange for basically nothing?
