My parents are Caribbean, but many people in my family have married West Africans.
The entire pattern/schedule for trips back home are the same. The back home trips to Africa are less frequent, so the shenanigan level gets ramped up another level.
Airlines cutting down on luggage limits for passengers eliminated a lot of the shenanigans. In the old days, it was just like the video in OP.
