They wouldn't need too, Russia has an abundance of resources that far exceeds us. There's a reason they rarely invade anyone, they are the ones that get drawn into war by the west because the west wants what they have. Resources.
Nobody wants to go to war over nothing, and die for nothing. There's always a motive and it's usually land, and resources. Ideology is a mask, wars cost money, and you need to be able to get that money back after you spend it.
