That quote is from when Gandhi was a young man in South Africa, before he started down the activist path, so it doesn't match with the photo, which was when he was a full-time freedom fighter who actively worked with Black civil rights leaders in the US, like Paul Robeson and others. He had repented for his earlier racism.

He was anti-Black until his mid-40's when he left South Africa. Not exactly young. Then once he wasn't in Africa any longer, or around African's, he moved his racism onto other ethnic groups.
