Africans who can't dance appreciation thread

Hell, I used to get down in breakdance crews back in the day...people would ask me if I got lessons nah.

I learned all my best moves to house and techno mixes in my parent's basement...and watching B-Boy videos back in the day and trying to learn how to uprock, do backspins and windmills, pop lockig, the robot, whatever. It's expression at the end of the day. I don't give a f*ck what other people think of me, cause I know I look good at the end of the day. Sometimes I have to turn it down a couple of notches though...

Actually house and new jack swing is what got me into dancing in the first place.

Maybe it's cause I'm African...I don't know. I love music and i can connect with the rhythm and the beat no matter what. That's what inspired me to DJ.

im the same way breh *daps*.....at my company christmas party back in dec..i got drunk and i was rippin up the dance floor solo and then with my girlfriend... ppl were like like they never seen somebody dance before.but then the majority of people at the party were white though...so seeing 2 black people dance must have been foreign overall

Thank goodness my rhythm is on point! I think it's one thing when someone doesn't like to dance. But it really breaks my heart when I see black people with NO RHYTHM . How is that possible?!

I mean, back in the day when I waas real little I would watch In Living Color and Fresh Prince of Bel Air and BET and try to do those dances like they would do in the videos. Like the Cabbage Patch and The Running Man (the quintessential New Jack Swing dance). LOL. People underestimate the 90s IMO. There were alot of TV shows like the Grind and stuff like that where it was basically watching people dance to the hottest music and it was always hip-hop, r&B, or house. But it was all about (for me atleast) trying to learn those moves to pull off at school dances....LOL.

Word Soul Train was a staple in my house breh. I got on actually learning the dance moves because my older cousins back in the late 80s teased me and my younger brother for not knowing how to dance. That was never going to happen again . Running man, Cabbage Patch, Roger Rabbit, The Wop, Robocop, Typewriter, Reebok, Ticking, Popping, Robot, etc etc...But yeah I have a tendency to draw attention to myself when I'm dancing due to the fact I'm a big guy doing it...I still do these dances to this day, not as fluid as it used to be but the majority can't tell the difference lol.
