Now people have unsophisticated ears? :comeon:

The music is unsophisticated and it does sound the same, that’s apart of the reason it has taken off.

Me too. shyts legit all sound the same

:scusthov:

I thought they made it a point to all sound the same

:yeshrug: it does sound the same
Go back to the 2nd page where I drop music. Tell me if ANY of the 5 tracks there sound the same. Just point them out

You can’t tell me you people don’t have uncultured ears Atp

They not killing enough nikkas for you?
Do better with the retort.

All music genres have distinguishing features.

That’s what makes them an identifiable genre of music.
Oh baby oh. Oh baby oh. I want your body. Jesus loves you oh. That's afrobeats' distinguishing feature.

Hip Hop used the same 4-5 drum samples for every song for 20 years.

There’s really only 2 genres.

Soul and Gospel.
And it worked. Afrobeats uses Oh baby oh. Oh baby oh. I want your body. Jesus loves you oh. And it sucks.

Secular and Spiritual.

You either singing for the Lord or the devil.
I don't care. So long as it's good.

Brooklyn keeps on taking it.
I can't tell the difference between a good afrobeat song and a bad one.

What makes Wizkid and Burnaboy special? Vocals? Lyrics? or am i looking at this through a Hip Hop lense?
Bad ears maybe?

There are much more other genres like reggaeton that fit this narrative. Afro beats is very diverse

You haven't explored the genre enough if you think it all sounds the same.

Although I've noticed that a lot of afrobeats songs as of recent do use the same beat pattern and tempo.
But that's just recent.

Amapiano is deep house w/ shakers and log drum emphasis. It is not "afrobeats"...it's localized house.
AAs already did the HAMBONE/JUBA rhythm thing...we understand it and make it pop so much that it inspired ska (via Roscoe Gordon) and UK drill (via DJ L).
Amapiano isnt repetitive, the "evolved" Ghanaian hiplife, and that Naija "hip hop/dancehall/local" hybrid being hyped up in this thread IS.

On a side note...
It'd be fire if there were more traditional songs with a modern twist like these

Flavour, phyno, tekno, zoro, Umu obiligbo, and odumodublvck all make modern ogene music and Igbo highlife music. I think only flavour and phyno Can take off with that sound since they know how mesh it. Especially flavour, he be mixing it with soca music
