I'd like afrobeats to be as raw and conscious as dancehall/reggae was in the 90s because most of the anthems don't capture the socioeconomic feel of the ground. Its almost as if, most of the artists are middle upper class.

Trap beats stagnated since 2016, and you think its gonna be this way for another 20 more years? 10? 5?

The fact that Afrobeats songs are being played in clubs down south as a healthier alternative to trap, is very telling. It ain't gonna shrink.
Honestly I want healthy competition from all genres. Ja brehs just need to move on from the gun talk and p*ssy talk and go back to writing actual songs.

Same with R&B artists having rapper content.

It's Africa's time now (Afrobeats X Amapiano). Let's hope the American small hat music execs don't corrupt it like everything else.

That said, YG Marley (Lauryn Hill's son) just dropped a top 100 Reggae hit with "Praise Jah in the Moonlight"

Reggae has to go back to the Roots for people to take it seriously again.
Thoughts on this joint? Been vibing this song since I heard it.. Did a search and I think this is only mention on this site surprisingly
