Cacs have been a part of hip hop for as long as I’ve been alive

Whether they’re behind the scenes, a producer or an actual rapper

From being fans, to modern day YouTube hip hop channels that are predominantly ran by cacs, do you think they have helped benefit the culture at all or would it be better if they were locked out of it completely since inception?

That depends on how each individual may view things. Some may see it as just the music aspect but it goes beyond that. Not just rappers & producers. Even if a small part, they could have played a vital role in helping hip hop grow. Doesn't even have to be involved in the music making process. Like for example you a truck driver. Think about how back in the day before streaming and all that there was only the ability to buy rap music at record stores. They had to get delivered there somehow. Plus the people who ran the record stores, the employees at the record label, at the place where the record or cassette or cd or whatever physical media being listened to was manufactured, the radio stations that played songs to get the artist exposure, tv channels that played the music videos or hosted the artists for interviews, and who knows what other businesses that may have helped contribute to the success of an artist. Some of those employees could've been white or any other race. If you looking at it in the big picture type of thing, then I'd say that they were a positive influence in helping an artist gain success and helping hip hop grow as an art form.

Rap music today has no redeeming qualities to me and I see no need in defending it or pretending to like it online :manny:

You'd think Black people weren't innovators with the guitar, drums, bass, or vocals if all you saw was drill or even "afrobeats" today
That doesn’t take away from the art of rap.
Most people don’t know how to chop up a sample or spit a decent 16 bars.
It's art to that shyt and you're putting it down as trash

Hip hop has been detrimental to Black musicianship and art as a whole, I don't give a fukk how I sound, rap music is trash compared to jazz, blues (all variants), rock n roll, (old school) gospel, and house

How come white people are detrimental to hip hop, but presumably not detrimental to jazz or rock n roll in your thesis? I'm just curious.

The art is dead and lead us to thot rap and drill mf's, I'm not gonna act like there aren't great rappers or rap groups, but look at it today and tell me if you hear good music

Funny thing is, I ended up just listening to sample sources instead, there were great rappers and producers but now it's all lead by producers who either just remix older stuff or stick to the same patterns

No jazz quartets or Chuck Berry cover bands are being milked by a 360 deal to release music about killing other Black folk

Cacs can imitate all the rock and jazz musicians they want but they really can't come close to the pioneers

Modern rap is too sterile and formulaic, you got goofy ass cacs from Iowa and Belarus producing for all kinds of brehs now
