After Creed 3 is it safe to give MBJ a seat at the table with Denzel, Samuel L, Sidney poitier, Angela Basset, Beyoncé, Viola Davis, D Dandridge etc?

He almost plays the same mundane character every movie(except BP-Kilmonger)

Kind of like how Sam L. Jackson plays the same guy excpet for when he plays Nick Fury and Mace Windu

Will Smith was versatile, still not the best actor to me but more versatile. Poitier and Washington are in their own leagues.

Where do you place Jamie Fox? Imo he’s more versatile than all of them.

Will isn't that versatile. Denzel isn't either. Most actors fall into an archetype either by their own doing or the game.

Jamie Foxx seems to have avoided this.

fair point, I only called will versatile based on the rolls he played with Dr. Nevill(sp?) and Dr. Omalu, Tousaint, and the guy from Enemy of the State, and Richard Williams. Some of those rolls you can tell he was trying but struggled a bit. I thought he did Richard Williams pretty well.

He at least needs to star in a couple movies where he’s nominated for an Oscar. Can’t even sniff that level until then.

The bolded fits his role type of "Hero/World Saver".

Somewhere tropic...
Not in the same universe as Denzel. His acting chops haven't wowed me.
But then neither have RDJ, Pine, Hemsworth etc.
Clearly that isn't needed for a modern A lister.
I'm happy for him
