Cole is popular when he puts out music...hes to far out of the spotlight to be the mega star he is....Kendrick is far more exposed..therefore is more of a face for the brand he represents...

2nd.Kendrick.... he more acclaimed than cole in public and in the industry. If Kendrick has any problem it that while his last album was great...it not radio/ top 20 friendly unlike his first album. I and king k were hits but not on the level of his first. ( I don't think he personally cares tho)
J cole 3. last album definitely helped him, while he been popular for half a decade, songs like wet dream was HUGE.

Cole is prolly a lil bigger than Kendrick in real life in terms of audience. Cole has that whole young girl to young adult audience locked in.
