You know that different presidents have different prospects right?
If Obama had the house he could do a lot more.

Reagan took over a country doing fine, Obama took over a country in ruins during the worst crisis in 80 years.
Most of his time has been spent on getting the country back on track and ending bush's unfinished business, which the republicans have been fighting.
So with the little time he had left, he's regulated wall street; the deregulation started by Reagan, Bush Sr, Clinton (his only mistake) and of course murked the fukk out by Bush jr. He has moved the country to modern times by making sure that everyone actually has the right to health insurance (cats call him a communist for that), increased taxes for rich back to the old level and kept the reduction for the low income takers, expanded affordable housing to fight the gentrification, spazzed on the energy companies playing with our electricity, fought the Chinese on their fx manipulation to keep unskilled jobs in the states and on.

It's also about what the Reagan administration said that they wanted to do contra what the Obama administration wants to do.
There's a few thing you can't do, things that are really hard. For example fukking up the constitution, energy policy, changing the position as the worlds military power and a few other things, no one blames Reagan for those things. Or we blame him for allocating money from social issues to military spending, it's hard to retract those things cause we'll lose too many jobs; generations were practically forced into that field, we blame him for spending big bucks to strictly make the rich richer; even if Obama has tried to take it back and fix it.. It's pretty hard to do it all the way since he would've never won the presidency in first place, he tried to kill all the support the government gave to the poor (i.e. black people) due to the twisted prospects we begun with, the war on drugs design to lock up black people instead of helping the poor get out of their misery and the list goes on. He tried to do a lot of shyt that he failed with, like decreasing taxes more, giving higher penalties than he wanted to, blocking MLK day and on.
All in all he was aight for the whole, fantastic for rich terrible for the social being of the poor and middle class.

Wow, that was long incase you don't wanna 'waste' your time, I'll conclude
It's easier to destroy than to fix, it's easier to make things "worse" for poor people than for rich people and corporations (since they control the poor people) and if your scheduled is filled from the beginning, it's hard to make things better when you have to bring it back to stable first.
Not really trying to get into what Obama has or hasn't done, I'm just using one example to point out the stupidity of some of these so called 'conscious' rappers. At the end of the day they're just nikkas rhyming their opinions on politics/society/history etc, which like every one else's can be stupid, hypocritical, misinformed etc but let some people tell it they are 'dropping knowledge' i.e educating people. It's bullshyt.

Not really trying to get into what Obama has or hasn't done, it's irrelevant, I'm just using one example to point out the ignorance of some of these so called 'conscious' rappers.
The thing is that Reagan was 25-30 years ago, we can analyze the effects of his policies as there was room for change.

Obama is steering a broken, fragile ship so we can't even do a direct comparison. You can compare Obamas situation with Hoovers, except that the economy wasn't as complex as it is today and you treating people like animals was a lot easier back then. Obama is in a unique situation and we can't really see the effects of his policies until 5-10 or even 20 years from now. So the other "conscious" rappers like Common and Kendrick that you mention are right.

Just think for a second, what do you think is the easiest?
1. That you will increase the bid for selling crack to 25 years to stop violence in the hood.
2. That you will decrease the bid for selling crack cause it doesn't help the community.

The media will just say, Obama is a crack liberal, how can he do this when people are shooting each other in his hometown over crack bla bla.

Mos def, he's usually on point all I'm saying is let's slow down.
He's very smart for being an entertainer one of the few entertainers I "follow" based on their intelligence, dudes in here are trying to equate him with Harvard professors or worst MLK and shyt.

He knows a lot of shyt about a lot of shyt, and he knows how to convey his argument (rarely the path of his reasoning or the broader spectrum, and he's rarely challenged by equally smart people). I can only criticize the stuff I've studied thoroughly, (i.e. 10 hours per day for the past 5 years) which is mathematics, economics and financial theory.

And obviously the thing about black vs white voters, the most c00nish shyt I've heard from a celebrity, I don't know how anyone could agree with tha. And yeah his weapons fetish is pretty weird as well, it's a smart thing theoretically but the assumptions are flawed.

People say that well, people in Montana have weapons why don't they kill each other? It's about the person who has the weapon, people born into poverty and thereby (socially implied) ignorance, people who are unstable, druggies, kids, the violent culture it feeds into unstable communities, he even talks about the military styled police which is born out of the combat culture the government has been promoting since the nation was founded led by guns and bombs.

The bold is very true...

But this goes for everyone who seems smart............... David Banner, Nas, Immortal Tech, etc. are usually speaking on shows with random hip hop people, not intellects.

And killermike's entire political stance is all about black generalizations and a forced c00n position-- AKA a weak attempt to be 'different' from the masses of black folk.

I don't disagree with him about weapons because I have an arsenal like Crazy.... and as you said it's about the person. All the machine guns and auto weapons in American--- hardly any mass shootings. Mass shooting are more about mental issues than guns.
Also, hood violence is more about drug laws, poverty, and resources than it is about guns.

:yeshrug: If you say so breh. All I saw were Cheerios ads. If hes doing something at least say something, anything. When the game thinks St Louis they think Nelly.
Nelly been in Ferguson doing speeches and the whole 9. Problem is, he sound ignorant as fukk. His heart in the right place but he's nowhere near being able to articulate himself as well as Killer Mike.

1st off - :salute: Killer Mike , always been a great rapper.. I hope this thread gets sticked honestly @hustlemania @cook @Brooklynzson this the type of stuff more people should see, cause unfortunately threads like this fall to page 3 real quick :sadcam: one of the best interviews ive seen in a long time PERIOD

2nd off - :russ: THATS how you seduce a woman with your mind. He was confident in what he was speaking, a lotta people think confident means being cocky and thats what females are attracted to. Nah, women like CONFIDENCE in whatever you do. He was confident in what he was saying and she felt that and was :shaq: by the end of the interview. It dont matter how you look (for the most part) if you get a chance to sit down and talk to a girl and be yourself and confident about who you are and what you bring to the table, she'll feel that shyt 2 and be wide open

Now this IS intelligent conscious rap music. Unlike these other dumb ass 'conscious' rappers (Kendrick, Common etc) who stay talking about Reaganomics and Regan's detrimental impact in general but then when it comes to Obama they talkin bout :whoa: 'the president has no real power'

I want you to quote a Kendrick Lamar interview where he said any of this, I also want you to quote some lyrics where he describe his issues with Reagan and his administration

Supporting guns in any type of manner is wrong, I don't give a fukk about who they support.

Weapons --> Violent cultures --> murder
See Ferguson, see Chicago, just look around.

Theoretically, if everyone had the same type of weapons, were just as smart, as rational etc. It could be a wonderful thing, cause then no one would fight, but let's be real; that is not the case. It's just like a if everyone were equally rational, homogenous in regards to their chances in life, no taxes would be the optimal system, but let's be real again that is not the case.

Why should nelly be obligated to speak on it thou? Just cuz he from the lou? he was never a political/militant/conscious type of rapper thou

thats like expecting hammer to speak on the oscar grant killing in oakland

Bad example. Hammer is a very intelligent brother from East Oakland. He came up in the Panther era so that mindset is engrained in him.

My point was that i don't expect certain rappers to speak on certain situations..hammer may have came up in the panther era,but he didn't display it in his music like pac did..who btw was a person i KNOW would've spoken out on this..probably would be down there right now in the mix of things, lol
