We have a military and every municipality has a police department in place because at the basis of even libertarian thought is that a force needs to be in place to protect people's lives. Why shouldn't healthcare be treated the same way since its purpose is to save lives?

Even if he has a really low chance of winning the primaries, the mere presence of him in the election cycle and the debates and conversation it wil force is important. And the effect it could have on Hillary.

The notion that a libertarian candidate could make it into office without conceding many positions is naive.

That said, his reluctance to engage in intervention and undeclared wars, places him well ahead of anyone else in the field IMO.
