Yeah. I believe Dre was responsible for the final sound.

There are some interestings interviews with the session musicians (Colin Wolfe, Tony Green, etc.) which people should listen to.

dre got good ears for arrangements and the final product...dre always go for the bigger sounds like shyt meant for stadiums and shyt..

dre is a producer...he is a perfectionist to the t...meanin the nikkaz4life album...

dre wasnt even on g-funk yet..that was somethin above the law brought to the table..he took his time n look at the final product...

well, in dre's defense, when you go back and read the credits (with the exception of who produced exactly what on doggystyle) it's all there if and when dre has produced a song or not and whenever there is a co producer, the co producer listed as well

i mean, dre is a "producer". he assembles everythin' and oversees it all and calls the shots of how things should be. that's a producer

I agree, but that's not good enough for some people though. They would rather believe a rookie Daz was responsible for everything on the early Death Row albums. And maybe he was providing good skeleton beats, but Dre and the seasoned musicians were taking them to another level.

I've been there before. It can become convincing after so many discussions.

But let's assume Daz brought this beat to the tabel:

Now let's assume this is after Dre's input:

:banderas:

Dre has completely changed it.

We CANNOT go with that meaning because in HIP HOP music the guy who MAKES the beat is the PRODUCER...

Dr Dre is the Drake of production...If Dr Dre gets a pass for being a "Quincy Jones" i.e. not even making the beat, then Drake should get a pass for being "Milli Vanilli" i.e. just lip syncing other people's thoughts...

Hip Hop has its OWN definition of Producer and MC...Let's stick to them please...Or else there no such a thing as Hip Hop...

And this is why the quality of Hip Hop music has gone to crap. So by your definition of what a Hip Hop producer is:

1) you don't even have to be in the studio with the artist you're making a track for

2) anyone with access to Fruityloops is a producer as long as he or she is making the beat

That's why the value and overall feel of the music lacks because you have people that just make beats with no artist in mind. They aren't even thinking about songs, they are just making beats.

Hip Hop does not have it's own definition of what a producer is. That's message board definition of what a producer is. Hip Hop doesn't have it's own definitions.

Yet people want to complain about the quality of albums and music in general. Ever wonder why albums sound all over the place, artists spittin' over beats they have no business rhyming over, everybody rapping over the same type of beats; it's because people think beat making is the same as being a producer. Therefore you have artists that create the same type of beats for whoever they are working with. That's how you get all these rappers rapping over trap beats because they think everybody sounds good over it. Real producers cater their sound to the artist and/or they find a middle ground to where it sounds like a marriage.
