For whatever reason ( ), addressing the issues of black voters turns off a large portion of working class white voters, and pandering to working class white voters depresses turnout among black voters. So while they can try to appeal to both, the Dems need to decide where their priorities should be and this election should give them a big suggestion as to that.

When you try to please everybody, sometimes you just end up pleasing nobody.

You cannot win with black people alone. The biggest factor in this election besides the fact that black people turned out was that white women stayed home and dropped from 35 to 31 percent of the electorate. If they showed up Moore still wins. They could not vote for the pedophile and went home. In the last general election in 2012, 84% of them voted against Obama while black people had the exact same margins. You need to win enough of them to keep those margins lower and then turnout POC and young people.

But over 90% of black men voted for Moore and there wasn't much difference between them and black women in terms of voting. In fact black men were MUCH more likely to vote Jones (and Hillary for that matter) than white women. Why are you acting like brehs down there are voting Republican or something?

People should be thinking about how to make it easier for black men to get registered and to vote, like this: Ex-felons voting for the first time could shake the Virginia governor's race rather than engage in a pedantic social media gender war. As the percentages show the men who do get to the polls vote almost identically the same way as women do..

This is not to ignore the real issue of black male voter disenfranchisement which is a real issue and needs to be seriously discussed. Black women are getting props for carrying Jones to victory, can you let them enjoy that recognition without thinking everything is a feminist conspiracy to disparage the black man.
