Alan Wake 2 is dope as fukk. they have guns too. Alan Wake 2 is a huge different from Alan Wake 1.

Two characters.

Saga is more action oriented, guns and more of a modern Resident Evil vibe - her story is cool but a bit less crazy relative to Alan, more eerie and suspenseful. Big Twin Peaks vibes if you like that

Alan is more environmental puzzles and weirdness with some gunplay thrown in. I found his sections less interesting gameplay wise but the story around him is much more interesting.

Overall I think it all comes together as one of the best games I've played in a while but your mileage will vary. It ain't for everybody

Alan Wake 1 is more like a thriller game, not a horror game, more of the creepy forest feeling.

Alan Wake 2 kind of forces a bunch of scares. More of a horror-style game, with jump scares, disturbing scenes, etc, full survival horror leaving.
