Got family in Anchorage. Been there a couple of times. Beautiful place indeed. There's a decent sized black population in Anchorage as well. Both times went during the summer which the highs only gets in the 60's temperature wise. The sun didn't go down til like 11:30 at night Don't think I would do a trip up there in the winter where its below zero and there's only like a few hours of sunlight per day.
