Nope. They kept going with the same gimmick and now the crowd doesn't even flinch when he comes out. But yet the WWE keeps pushing him and keeping him in the main event. I still don't understand why they threw Ricardo to the curb. Probably because he was more over than Del Rio.

Good news. He's taking a spot from someone who could do so much more with it. He had a 4 year run than most wrestlers will kill to have so I see no harm in this.

Del Rio and WWE tried, there's no question about it, but for whatever reason the guy just couldn't be the star they wanted him to be. As I've said countless times, the guy is pretty damn good in ring, has the mannerism, can cut a decent promo, but he can't click with the crowd no matter how they book him. He's been the most protected heel in the roster since he debuted - seriously, has any heel in the PG has had as many clean wins as him? - but it just didn't work. Time to move on and give the opportunity so someone else
