Yeah I only started listening to El-P nine months ago, but I needed a name and thought this was dope.
It's the gift and the curse of starting with hiphop in 2005, gift is there's so much to discover still (Def Jux was this years find) but the curse is I wasn't there the moment it dropped.

Thanks for the heads up though, I'll listen soon. Also, Labor Days by Asop Rock is on my agenda.

No worries man! Really appreciate your honesty and have lots of respect for your taste in hiphop. That's a great entrance into hiphop. Your in for alot of dope music. :whoo:

Defjux dropped alot of classics in their run. Be sure to check out Cannibal Ox's ' Cold Vein' also, it's magnificent and entirely produced by El-P. Mr Lif's I Phantom is another classic. The track 'Return of the b-boy', in which he battles himself still amazes me every time I hear it.

Sure thing, I actually started with The Cold Vein, and Jewnited States hooked me up with I Phantom last week, in a similar thread.
Already been to an El-P concert too in Amsterdam 2 months ago, amazing show. Made up alot for the Nas show this year, which was disapointing.

I actually preferred Movies For The Blind. Didn't he have a song where he sampled the theme music for that old school ninja movie from the 80s Ninja 3: The Domination?

Fvcking dope album.
Was the first taste of Cage I ever got.
Around the time I was heavy on Shady and this album
had me like :ohlawd: :lebron:

Yoooo "Subtle Art Of The Break Up Song" had me like :wow:
After the car crash :

Cage said:
i picked my face up with glass in it
can't remember the last minute
glovebox: my girl's face smashed in it
i called her name out but she ain't respond
pulled her shoulder back, touched her arm
her entire fukking face is gone

i see her breathing,
i'm pleading with jesus
leave her lifeless
don't leave her like this
reach for the birthday balloon of nitrous
i'm trying to dial for help with hands i can't feel
stuck in the driver's seat my broken ribs gripping the steering wheel
she squeezed my hand and let go
i should have been sittin shotty
and the rain wouldn't still be pouring all over that angel's body
i'm trying to crawl back in the k-hole to get out of the car
but the k won't climb out of my nose and back in the jar
this isn't her i tell myself
at least she's happy
wherever she is her soul is out looking at me
i pump my fist to bleed out
to catch her and let the worms play
and tell her i'm sorry i gave her death for her birthday

Such an Ill album.

Personally I like both Movies For The Blind and Hell's Winter.
