the way he mixes in so many different sounds and clips into his beats and make it sound like they belong is what makes the beats enter that next level.
like I bet there's beatmakers everywhere who think they can make the same beats AL does ... and they probably could, they're not super complex. But its when he adds all that extra shyt in afterwards, not everyone can do that.
Yep. There's tons of little ear candy sprinkled throughout. I agree that's what makes a lot of these recent projects so fire to me. Even if it's kind of a simp,e loop and drum pattern, there's always little sounds, effects, added samples, and little synth sounds all sprinkled throughout.
Zig Zag Zig is a simple beat, but there's vocal samples, electric guitars, piano keys, and even horns. It's simple and allows the artist to be the star of the show, but there's still a lot happening in the beat. Super Plug's a great example too. It's basically a 1 bar loop, but there's so many little extra sounds and shyt thrown in that it stays dynamic.
