if you don't have something to say in support of OP or others kicking it, go post somewhere else. this is not the thread to defend your weed use or explain to us idiots how marijuana is a magic drug sent from god, or how awesome getting day drunk is, it's a thread where dudes are being real honest about struggles that not everyone has, but are insanely difficult for those that do.

Do you drink every day?

Unfortunately I've been drinking every day for about 4 years..

I have a pretty successful career ahead of me and plan to stop soon, I know It's gonna be a b1tch :sadbron:

To make matter worse, I've smoked weed every day for about 10+ years, but seriously, up until about two years ago, I stopped letting it limit me in terms of learning, gaining new knowledge and moving forward/letting go of things.

I gave up Alcohol once for about 4 weeks and went straight back on it everyday without even noticing, its the devil.

You have to go cold completely. Don't limit it to weekends, special events...whatever. Just quit cold.

I had to dump Soda recently and started getting headaches because of the caffeine withdrawal...my body feels much better now.

What kind of withdrawal symptoms do you get? I get insomnia if i don't drink. i'm talking about tossing and turning and not getting a wink of sleep the whole night. The next day i feel shytty cause of lack of sleep and i am basically sleepwalking through the day(this is worse to me than a hangover). So that leads me to drink that day so i can get some sleep.

I need to stop before i get to the point where withdrawal symptoms get worse. Shakes etc.

do you brehs have specific goals that this is stopping you from? and if you don't, that in itself could be motivation to get clean, the fact that you're "happy enough" with drinking. one thing that's pushed me is my anger towards sitting down and being debilitated because of my own choices.

identify a goal and move towards it, inch towards it even, and you might begin to see how this shyt isn't worth it.

and of course remember that withdrawal symptoms are temporary. no matter how many sleepwalking days due to insomnia or dry drunk spells you get, that shyt WILL be done with if you stay clean.

like i said before, i'm new to this, so i don't have any amazing advice. i just know the stages i've been through: :krs: about getting high/drunk/what have you, :upsetfavre: that you do it so much, then :childplease: that you haven't quit yet, :to: that you gotta make a deep change to get out of the hole you're in. right now i'm at :whew: for having been able to finally make that change (i stayed in :upsetfavre: for a year plus), working towards :ahh:

Insomnia like crazy. To the point where three Tylenol PMs didn't even help. I would dread laying in bed cause my mind was racing on some SCARY ass thoughts. Like would rather do anything than face them kinda thoughts.

Right now the dry drunk thing is fukking with me. I drink my little four neers at night to skirt insomnia... that's the main part I can't stand to go through again.

Sweats. Feeling weak. Blood pressure and pulse have been good cause I run.

Insomnia is a bytch. It's hell. The last couple of times i tried to quit cold turkey, it was Insomnia that drove me back to drinking. I may give it another shot this weekend since Monday is Memorial Day, i can have three non working days to adjust.

i'm like that with black and milds. I went cold turkey after smoking again almost a month ago.

Headaches, feeling queezy :sadbron: At that point I knew if I kept smoking I was going to go through it again but worse. Luckily I was good again after about 2 days. it's all about will power. mind over matter.

i started smoking these since im 60+ days cold turkey from weed and i need to stop fukkin with milds, this no weed shyt is killing me though :damn:

im not a very heavy drinker and never was, only time i really drink is if im going to a party or bar or something.

Almost an alcoholic over here. My life hasn't fallen apart and I don't drink hard liquor often but Im more like having a 40 or 2 everyday on my days off from work I go as hard as I can. It's fukked up cause that's the only time my kid has me at 100 percent and I waste the days being drunk. It's cool sometimes but I'm always losing things and never getting anything done.

I thought about going back to AA but the last thing I want in life is more religion. My drinking is weak shyt compared to a lot of posters in here so my bad if Im wasting your time I just see that I've got a lot in common with some of these post and want to stop this before I get shakes and all the other difficulties of an Alcholic.
