That’s how you make money off your past hits when you don’t own your masters.

There’s a lot of re-recorded records on streaming sites, some so good you don’t even realize it unless you know all the intricacies of the original records.

Teddy Pendergast did the same thing unfortunately. Made an album redoing all his classics, but it wasn’t the same Teddy. Sounded horrible, and I fukked around and ordered the album not knowing.

think it has something to do with their contracts.
Definitely, he completely lost his voice after becoming paralyzed from the waist down. When he ran his car off the road after getting caught with a treh by paparazzi.

Ruined his whole damn career over some bussy, dude had kids too. The strong black man image hit took a hit bc of that.

I’ll never forgive him for that shyt, he really ushered in that strong dark skin black man in R&B image. His career was just about to really blow worldwide, what a strong image he could have been. Had female fans from every race, creed, and color. Threw all that shyt away and tarnished that image for good.

Before it used to be a bunch of sickly looking light skin dudes like Smokey who dominated the genre. There was a great documentary that covered all of this.
