not to agree or disagree but what I think the brothas are trying to say, is that these days the mainstream music machines would much rather sell her or macklemore to the mainstream of America because they will accept that more willingly. Just watch everytime an R&b sounding song cones out by a white artist. Its interesting as in the past the execs feared the music whether from Tina Marie or KC and the Sunshine Band. Now they realize that rock isn't strong enough and they can sell a Timberlake to the still white washed but more culturally integrated white audience.
and I think r&b is done because of our cultural integration. I have a diverse set of friends and family and its interesting how loveless their music is compared to mine. They think all of the passion and crooning of my old school music is corny and over the top. They don't even see the beautiful arrangements of these songs. To them disco is something rock fans got together to burn, which to me is a hatred of love and some beautiful music. These cultures are what our youth are growing up integrating into. Add to that, the all out war on dumping and the poor excuse of so called rappers like Drake taking up studio space for real singers. But even he is dissed for simpin. R&b is just dead.

it needs to be taken back all way to live instrumentation/studio bands/sessions. Same equipment also. There are also too many solo artist, most of these singers need to be in a group and stop writing their own shyt. Besides production the lyrical aspect of the game is washed also. Producers are trash too, back in the day a song verse was spaced out/segmented and didn't necessarily have words hitting on every bar. To me that brought more feel and emotion to a song. Product today seems so cluttered
