It was good but the xenomorph at times looks too clean which makes it look fake.

And this is Alien ISLAND not Alien Earth:stopitslime:It’s clear they will nuke the Island at some point to explain why the Xenomorphs don’t take over the earth and why only one company know about them.

Good start. I assume they manage to contain the threat to the Maginot - if the aliens end up running rampant on planet Earth then I’m sure that this would be something that Ripley and them would be aware of.
Yea I was thinking about this:patrice:

This takes place 2 years before 'Alien' so if the Xenos were running rampant on Earth I'm sure Ripley and the others would have known about that

This is such a specific point but I said the same thing. I felt like I was just nitpicking tho. The scene where you get a good view of it in the hallway, it looks crisp as fukk. 4k xenomorph lol
I think the Xeno needs to be more wet/greasy looking

I’m too big of an Alien franchise Stan to notice anything I don’t like, so far. Only had time to watch the first episode last night. Loved every minute.

My wife was only intrigued when scenes got loud, otherwise she was half pretending to watch. She asked “is that the baby alien?” When the scientist was taking a look at the tentacle thing.

Then she tried to cuddle up next to me on the sofa but I wouldn’t let her take me out my zone. I just laid there whole time like

:deadrose:

With the same D.Rose stone face.

Then she finally made me go to bed, so I gotta watch the second episode tonight.

Hoping that we get some good world building on Earth but not sure how they do that without the Aliens getting loose. That being the case, I’m not sure how they build this out over multiple series as planned tbh…what would’ve been dope is if they also had the rights to Blade Runner - Amazon are doing a BR series so it would’ve been cool to see the two universes colliding. The timeline of the new BR series will be 2099 which would be only 20 years earlier than the timeline of this series so that would’ve been a great opportunity to bring the two universes in line, with a focus on the themes of terraforming and colonising other planets. They would reconcile the different between what a synthetic is vs a replicant though.

The show is set on an island for a reason breh.

They will nuke the island and the company hq

So you technically do have aliens on “earth” but not really.

As others said, good start. Was kinda mixed with the whole deploying completely inexperienced super soldier synthetic 12-year olds to extract unknown data from a crashed space vessel lodged into a skyscraper about to collapse...

and by mixed, i mean that shyt was completely stupid :mjlol: but it was "needed" for the plot to progress and, hell, a number of them have charm which helps with the downtime.. so fine. I also appreciate that they got the revealing that their siblings subplot out the way quickly in ep 2, as some shows would've dragged something like that on. I thought the show looked good but they kinda do opt for the camera tricks to save costs with the fight (or massacre) scenes, which is fine, but only if they show out with ep 3 which i assume will start with a 1v1.

The plot armor with the medic was pretty bad tho. <--Which kinda leads to my last comment: while the lead female and the main breh are both awesome/standouts so far, i don't quite feel the "stakes" bc all the important/interesting characters are robots or synths, so it's not like i'm concerned for their safety. Maybe ep 3 changes that.

But all in all a very fun first 2 eps

Just finished a second viewing - there’s a lot of potential with the back story but it depends on what threads they decide to follow through on:

1.The five corporations running the globe - it was mentioned that Weyland-Yutani had control of the Americas - Prodigy has Asia from the looks of it (Weyland-Yutani entering New Siam to claim the ship would be taken as a hostile act) so it will be interesting to see what territories the other companies control (i.e who controls Europe, Africa, etc). Almost sets up a GOT scenario in regards to a global race for intelligence and immortality, similar to what we have now with the US and China for AI.

2. Also established that these same companies control certain planets and moons in the Solar System so there’s scope to explore the off-world themes such as terraforming and colonising other planets.

3. You can see the seeds of each of the Lost Boys having their own identity (i.e the scientist breh) so will be interesting to see how this develops as the series goes on, especially as the hybrid bodies inhabit super computers.

4. Wendy tuning into a frequency where she can hear the Aliens - opens up the possibility that she’ll be able to speak to and control them further down the line :ohhh:

They’ve set up enough here to make the story compelling enough beyond the Xenomorph and alien aspect of this - just hoping that s1 is not 7 to 8 episodes of them following Wendy around the ship looking for her brother.

No Whammies!!
I'm actually irrationally hyped up about what I just saw.:blessed:
YET... for some reason my first instinct is to go on the internet with my criticisms :troll:

-As already mentioned, the plot armor is RIDICULOUSLY strong in this show. You have multiple scenes with the Xenomorph just massacring rooms full of people far, far faster than anything we've seen in the original movies. Not even fully eating or capturing people to be coc00ned, just totally murdering everyone at lightning speed EXCEPT the one character who happens to have his name in the credits. Who is miraculously unharmed. :lolbron:.

-I feel like the whole "Lost Boys" team was a little Voltron/Power Rangers-ish. Like, you have a squad of 80's Anime characters forming up to fight Alien. I feel like this kind of veers into the whole "80's kids team" nostalgia we're seeing in Stranger Things, Skeleton Crew, IT, etc. Even thought we're 100 years in the future, the spaceship crashes into what's basically a SHOPPING MALL and we also see sports memorabelia that somehow is from that narrow window of history that 80's kids will remember :lolbron:

Yet here I am DYING For the next episode :mjlol:

Second episode had me dying lol. I knew it was going to be the statue. The story dynamic between the brother, the companies, the Xeno, and Morrow has been interesting as hell. The dinner party scene was one of my favorite parts

This is the prequel I would have preferred instead Prometheus and Covenant. I’m excited as hell to see future alien movies after this.
